Okay, so I use VidMate a lot, mostly to save videos for later when I don’t have WiFi. But one thing that’s always bugged me—using it at night was just brutal on my eyes. That white background? Painful.

I figured there had to be a way to turn on dark mode in the app, but it took me a bit to actually find it. Thought I’d just write this up in case someone else is going through the same thing.

Step-by-step (the real way, not the weird techy stuff)

1. Open VidMate

Obvious, but yeah. Open the app. Make sure it’s updated, cause older versions don’t have dark mode. Mine’s a fairly recent one.

2. Tap your profile or menu button

Usually bottom-right corner. It looks like a person or sometimes three lines. You know the one.

3. Go to settings

Scroll down until you see “Settings.” Might have to look a bit, depending on how old your version is.

4. Look for “Dark Mode” or “Night Mode”

It was called “Dark theme” on mine. Just a little toggle switch. I turned it on and boom, the whole interface went black (in a good way).

5. Done. That’s it.

Seriously, nothing fancy. No restart needed. Just go back and it stays that way.

Bonus tip:

If you're on a newer phone (Android 10+), you can also just go into your phone’s settings and switch your whole system to dark mode. Some apps follow that automatically. VidMate sometimes does too, but I still recommend switching it manually in the app just to be sure.

Why bother?

Honestly? It just feels nicer. Less light blasting your eyes, especially late at night. And yeah, I noticed my battery lasts a bit longer too when I’m not staring at a bright screen.
